Evaluation
The evaluation in speech-language and feeding is carried out by a Speech Pathologist, this process is carried out to determine if a child has a problem in speech and language, feeding/dysphagia.
Speech and Language Assessment- Clinical observations, formal standardized and criterion-referenced tests are used to assess receptive language, expressive language, articulation, oral mechanism, and voice and fluency parameters.
Feeding or Dysphagia Evaluation - This evaluation is done to determine the presence and severity of the dysphagia or feeding problem, as well as to determine the need for further testing. Facial muscle movement, timing of food movement, and airway protection are examined. Management of different textures and consistencies, body position during feeding, sensory integration, caregiver-child interaction, and behavioral components are assessed .
